TUCSON, Ariz.-- The Augsburg College softball team completed its annual Arizona road trip on a high note, adding two more wins Thursday evening at the Tucson Invitational Games at Lincoln Park. The Auggies won their final six games of the road trip to push the teams overall record to 9-7 on the season. A recap of the teams 10 game road trip is listed below. The Auggies next game is scheduled for Tuesday (3/29) against Northwester College in Roseville, Minn.
Thursday, March 17 -- Augsburg 7, Dickenson College (Pa.) 5
Kylee Persing (JR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) struck out six and threw a complete game to lead the Auggies over the Red Devils. In addition to her performance in the circle, Persing led the Auggies offensive attack, as she collected a single, double, and two RBI's.
Jessa Hinz (SR, Richfield, Minn.) continued her solid play on the road trip, recording a double and two singles.
Laura Strandell (SR, Pine Island, Minn.) added a double, single, and two RBI's, while second baseman
Stephanie Saxe (JR, Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) recorded a run scoring double in the game.
Augsburg 6, Marian University (Wis.) 2
In their final game of the road trip, the Auggies recieved another stellar performance from Persing, as the junior pitcher recorded her second complete game performance of the day to push Augsburg past the Sabres.
Persing helped her cause again at the plate against Marian, hitting a solo home run in the second inning to tie the score at 1-1.
Hintz recorded her second multi-hit game of the day and scored two runs to aid the Augsburg offensive effort, while
Brittney Bruzek (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) added two RBI's.

Wednesday, March 16 -- Augsburg 13, College of Staten Island (N.Y.) 9
Led by a 10-run first inning, the Auggies scored a season high 13 runs in their win against the Dolphins Wednesday evening.
Jennifer Castillo (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) hit a two-run home run, her second of the season, to led the Augsburg offensive attack, while
Shayna Crandall (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) pitched 3 2/3 innings to pick up her third win.
Kylee Persing (JR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) struck out the side in the seventh inning to pick up the save.
Augsburg 13, Lakeland College (Wis.) 4
The Auggies got off to a great start again in game two, as they sent all nine batters to the plate in each of the first two innings to score 13 runs.
Jessa Hinz (SR, Richfield, Minn.) reached base four times in the game, recording three singles and a walk to lead the Augsburg offensive outburst.
Laura Strandell (SR, Pine Island, Minn.) had two singles in the game, while second baseman
Stephanie Saxe (JR, Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) recorded a double and two singles.

Monday, March 14 -- Augsburg 5, Rutgers-Newark 2
In just her second career start,
Shayna Crandall (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) struck out 10 Scarlet Raiders, including six consecutive batters to lead the Auggies to their first victory of the Tucson Invitational.
Marissa Lurken (SO, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) recorded two hits and three RBI's for Augsburg.
Augsburg 3, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 2
Jessa Hinz (SR, Richfield, Minn.) hit a two-run homerun and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Auggies their second win of the year against La Crosse.
Bri Dorale added two hits in the win, while Shayna Crandell pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn her second quality start on the day. Crandell recorded three strikouts in the game, and was relieved in the top of the sixth by Persing, who was the pitcher of record when Hinz scored the winning run.
The Auggies will now enjoy a day off before returning to action Wednesday with games against perennial City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) power College of Staten Island (N.Y) and Northern Athletics Conference member Lakeland College (Wis.).

Sunday, March 13, Husson 2, Augsburg 1
In game three of the road trip, the Auggies recieved a complete game effort from
Kylee Persing (JR, Mound, Minn. Mound-Westonka HS) but dropped a 2-1 decision against defending North Atlantic Conference champion Husson University (Maine).
Bri Dorale (SO, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) was 3-for-4 in the game, recording a double, two singles, and a stolen base in the loss.
Stephanie Saxe (JR, Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) recorded the only Augsburg RBI, while Persing added five strikeouts.
Central (Iowa) 7, Augsburg 3
Despite two hits each from Saxe,
Jennifer Castillo (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and
Allyson Ruedy (SO, Waseca, Minn./Waseca HS) the Auggies were only able to muster three runs in a 7-3 loss to Central.
Against the Dutch, Augsburg recorded 10 hits in the game, but stranded a season-high 12 runners on base.
Persing threw her second complete game of the day, recording two strikeouts against one walk. Just two the the runs charged to her were earned.

Saturday, March 12
Augsburg (3-4) dropped two games Saturday, falling to No. 24-ranked Coe College (Iowa) 7-0, and to Southwestern University (Tex.) 12-1.
Devon Shaut (SO, Merritt Island, Fla.) threw three scoreless innings and recorded a extra base hit to lead the Auggies at the plate and in the field.
