MINNEAPOLIS -- Kelsey Rorabeck (JR, Hudson, Wis./Somerset HS) hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning in the first game for Augsburg College, as the Auggie softball team claimed a doubleheader split with the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

Augsburg (15-19 overall, 8-8 MIAC) won the first game 4-2, but St. Benedict (18-10 overall, 10-6 MIAC) claimed a 10-1 victory in the second game, shortened to five innings by the NCAA's eight-run rule.

The Auggies used a four-run fifth inning to rally for the first-game victory. Pinch runner Sammy Wagner (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) scored on a single and throwing error, and Rorabeck hit her second home run of the season to deep center field to give the Auggies a 4-1 lead.

Augsburg pitcher Amanda Eaton (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn.) picked up the first-game win, striking out three while walking two in a complete-game effort. Emily Smith (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) had two hits for the Auggies in the first game.

St. Benedict pitcher Rachel Nelson (SO, Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) also pitched a complete-game effort in the first game, striking out four. The Blazers scored an unearned run in the fifth inning, as Lonni Johnson (FY, Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) drove in Emma Zierden (FY, Avon, Minn./Albany HS) on a sacrifice fly, and added another run in the top of the second on Johnson's solo home run.

St. Benedict relied on the long ball in the second game, connecting on three home runs -- a three-run homer by Maddie Lenker (SO, Eden Prairie, Minn.) in the first inning, a two-run homer by Lexi Alm (SO, Stacy, Minn./Forest Lake HS) in the second inning and a two-run homer by Sarah Walch (SO, Red WIng, Minn.) in the third inning. The Blazers added another run in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth.

Augsburg's lone run in the second game came on an RBI single by Allyson Ruedy (JR, Waseca, Minn.), driving home Bri Dorale (JR, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) in the first inning. Dorale had two hits for the Auggies in the doubleheader.

Trisha Johnson claimed the pitching win for St. Benedict in the second game, striking out three while allowing three hits. Eaton took the loss for the Auggies, with Kylee Persing (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) pitching in relief.

Lonni Johnson, Lenker and Kelsey McQuillan (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) had three hits each for the Blazers in the doubleheader, with Johnson and Alm scoring three runs each.

Both teams return to action on Saturday (4/21) at 1 p.m., as Augsburg plays at Hamline and St. Benedict hosts Gustavus.
