NORTHFIELD, Minn.-- Kylee Persing (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) went 3-for-7 and scored three runs to lead the Augsburg College softball team to a split of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Carleton College on Friday afternoon.

Augsburg (11-15 overall, 4-4 MIAC) dropped the first game of the twinbill 2-1, before defeating Carleton (4-19 overall, 3-5 MIAC) in the nightcap by a score of 8-1.

Persing reached base five times and recorded her first triple of the season to lead the Augsburg offensive attack at the plate. With her three hits on Friday, Persing raised her season batting average to a team-high .378.

Lindsay Helbach (FY, Amherst, Wis.) went 4-for-8 for Augsburg with a run scored, while teammate Allyson Ruedy (JR, Waseca, Minn.) went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted for Augsburg.

Stephanie Saxe (SR, Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) and Emily Smith (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) recorded two hits each in the double header, while Bri Dorale (JR, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) also recorded two hits and stole three bases for the Auggies in the doubleheader.

Persing was the pitcher of record for Augsburg in game two, as she pitched a complete game three-hitter to earn her sixth win of the season. Persing struck out three and walked two while allowing one run in seven innings of work.

The Auggies took advantage of a four-run first inning to take an early lead in game two. Augsburg would add four more runs in the top of the sixth to put the game away for good and leave town with a split of the two game series.

The Auggies return to action Wednesday (4/11) when they host St. Olaf College in a doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
