Bekka Kelly (JR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) went 4-for-8 in the doubleheader, including a 3-for-4 effort with two doubles and two RBI in the second game, leading the Augsburg College softball team in a split with St. Olaf College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Mabel Shirley Field. St. Olaf (3-15 overall, 3-7 MIAC) won the first game 3-1, and Augsburg (4-24 overall, 1-9 MIAC) won the second game 7-4.
Kelly hit RBI doubles in the third and seventh inning, two of five extra-base hits for the Auggies in the second game.
Lauren Torborg (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning,
Jenna Orth (FY, Melrose, Minn.) hit a run-scoring triple in the third inning, and
Brenna Nakonechny (FY, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) hit a double in the seventh.
Kelly's first RBI double, Orth's RBI triple and a sacrifice fly by
Lindsay Helbach (JR, Amherst, Wis.) accounted for three runs for the Auggies in the third inning, and Kelly's RBI double and Torborg's three-run blast made up the four-run seventh inning for Augsburg. St. Olaf's Stephanie Borndale hit a two-run homer in the second inning, Brooke Paradise hit a run-scoring double in the third inning, and Becca Walz doubled to drive in a run in the seventh.
Amanda Eaton (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) struck out five while walking three and allowing seven hits in a complete-game pitching victory for the Auggies in the second game.
St. Olaf scord single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings to build a 3-0 lead over the Auggies in the first game. Augsburg's lone run came in the seventh, when
Ashley Anfinson (FY, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) singled and came around to score following an RBI fielder's choice by Kelly. Alex Lebens hit a solo home run for the Oles in the second inning, Alex Lebens hit a run-scoring single in the fourth, and Haley Schreier drove home a run on a single in the sixth.
Both pitchers threw complete-game efforts in the first game.
Olivia Boerschinger (SR, Neenah, Wis.) struck out one for the Auggies, while Danielle Collins had four strikeouts for St. Olaf.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Sunday (4/13) at 1 p.m., hosting Carleton at Edor Nelson Field.
