BOXSCORE 2 MOORHEAD, Minn. --
Olivia Boerschinger (SR, Neenah, Minn.) and
Amanda Eaton (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) pitched complete-game victories for Augsburg College, as the Auggies claimed a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader sweep of Concordia College-Moorhead on Friday afternoon at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.
Boerschinger pitched all eight innings in Augsburg's 5-2, first-game victory, striking out one while not walking a batter. Eaton collected three strikeouts against two walks in the second-game, 2-0 victory. The shutout was her second this season and third of her Auggie career.
The Auggies took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning of the first game, as
Lauren Hurley (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) hit a two-out double, and her pinch runner,
Mindy Nguyen (SO, Austin, Minn./Pacelli HS), came around to score following an error. The Cobbers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh, on a run-scoring double by Kellie Morehouse.
Augsburg scored four runs in the eighth inning, as
Sarah Buckner (SO, Duluth, Minn./East HS) hit a double and came around to score on an error,
Brittany Hecker (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) hit a two-run double, and
Brenna Nakonechny (FY, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) hit a run-scoring double. The Cobbers scored a run in the bottom of the eighth, but could manage no more against Boerschinger.
In the second game, Augsburg scored both its runs in the second inning.
Jenna Orth (FY, Melrose, Minn.) led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Ashley Anfinson (FY, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS), stole third base, then scored on a bunt single by
Christa Blaquiere (SR, Edam, Saskatchewan/H. Hardcastle HS). Blaquiere later scored when
Bekka Kelly (JR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) reached on a fielding error.
Orth went 2-for-3 for the Auggies in the second game. Eaton only allowed four Cobber hits, and the Cobbers stranded six runners on base in the game, including two runners in the secondand seventh innings.
Augsburg returns to action on Tuesday (4/22) at 5 p.m., hosting Saint Benedict in a rescheduled doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field.
