BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 MINNEAPOLIS -- Olivia Boerschinger (SR, Neenah, Wis./Neenah HS) pitched a complete-game effort for Augsburg College in the first game and Amanda Eaton (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), Boerschinger and Devon Shaut (SR, Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) teamed up on the mound for Augsburg in game two, but the Auggies were beaten 5-2 and 6-0 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader by the College of Saint Benedict on Tuesday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

Boerschinger struck out one while not giving up a walk and allowing seven hits in 7.0 innings in the 5-2, first-game loss. Eaton struck out five, while walking four and only allowing four hits in 4.1 innings in the second-game loss, with Shaut pitching two innings of relief and giving up just one hit.

Brenna Nakonechny (FY, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) went 3-for-5 with a run scored to lead the Auggies in the doubleheader. Lauren Torborg (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) and Lauren Hurley (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) each recorded two hits apiece for the Auggies.

In the first game, the Auggies gave up four runs in the first inning, but allowed just one additional run by the Blazers in the top of the third inning. Augsburg picked up runs in both the second and fifth innings. Jenna Orth (FY, Melrose, Minn./Melrose HS) hit a sacrifice fly in the second to score Torborg, while Nakonechny scored on a wild pitch in fifth to round out the scoring for the Auggies.

The Blazers again jumped out to a quick lead in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning off three-run homer by Lexi Alm. St. Benedict added another three runs in the fifth inning to round out the scoring. Stacy Svihel added a home run for the Blazers, bringing their team total to 18 on the year.

Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Wednesday (4/23) at 3:30 p.m., when the Auggies travel to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolpus College.
