BOXSCORE 2 WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Augsburg College softball team was swept by Wartburg College, who improved its winning streak to 13 games with wins of 9-0 and 10-1 on Friday afternoon. Both games ended early due to the NCAA eight-run rule. THE BASICSGAME SCORES: Wartburg 9, Augsburg 0; Wartburg 10, Augsburg 1LOCATION: Waverly, IowaRECORDS: Augsburg 4-14 overall, Wartburg 15-5 overallGAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS• Wartburg jumped out to a two-run lead off a homerun in the first inning, and never looked back. Wartburg added one two more in the second, and five runs --three from another homerun-- in the third inning.
• The Auggies were held hitless, while Wartburg comminted zero errors and senior pitcher Paige Blom surrendered just four free passes.
• Reaching base on those walks for Augsburg was Jacquline Nichols (FY, Royalton, Minn.) twice, Sarah Buckner (JR, Duluth, Minn./East HS), and Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn.).
• Wartburg finished with 10 hits and eight RBIs including two homeruns.
• Lindsay Helbach (SR, Amherst, Wis.) pitched the complete game for the Auggies. She struck out one batter, and only gave up two earned runs as the Auggies committed three errors.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Auggies recorded six hits in game two, scoring one run in the third when Haley Larson (FY, Prior Lake, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) came around to score after a single by Lauren Torborg (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS).
• Wartburg scored its 10 runs on 15 hits, and capitalized on three more Augsburg errors.
• Amanda Niznik (SO, Columbia Heights, Minn.) and Torborg led the Auggies at the plate, each going 2-for-3, while Brianna Cline (FY, St. Claire, Minn.) singled in her only at bat. Torborg added a stolen base as well.
• Bekka Kelly (SR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) also recorded a hit for Augsburg, going 1-for-3. •
Courtney Larsen (FY, Little Canada, Minn./Concordia Academy) started in the circle for the Auggies and threw 5.0 innings giving up five runs. Helbach relieved her in the sixth, but allowed five runs (one earned) in 0.2 innings of work before Wartburg's Micaela Forsyth doubled to bring around the game-clinching runs.
FOR THE FOES• Three Wartburg players fininshed the doubleheader with at least four hits. Katie Wyman (5-for-6), Kristie Sommer (4-for-5), Katie Sommer (4-for-7).
