BOXSCORE 2 MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team opened its 2016 season with a nonconference doubleheader with Crown College on Friday evening at the Edor Nelson Field dome.THE BASICSGAME SCORES: Augsburg 1, Crown 2; Augsburg 1, Crown 2LOCATION: Edor Nelson Field, Augsburg Dome, MinneapolisRECORDS: Augsburg 0-2 overall, Crown 2-0 overallGAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS• Crown scored two runs in the fifth inning, while Augsburg plated one runner in the sixth as both teams combined for only nine hits in the first game of the doubleheader.•
Courtney Larsen (SO, Little Canada, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) threw six innings of solid work, allowing just five hits, two runs and one walk, while striking out six of the 23 batters she faced.
• Augsburg's lone run came off the bat of
Sarah Buckner (SR, Duluth, Minn./East HS), who singled to center field in the sixth inning to score
Carly Dropik (FY, Alexandria, Minn.). Dropik reach on a walk, stole second, then advanced to third on a putout at first before Buckner's RBI single.
• Dropik finished the game 1-for-2 with the one run scored and one walk, while Buckner finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Meghan Springborn (SO, Oakdale, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) and
Ashley Anfinson (SR, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) both recorded one hit, going 1-for-3.
• Augsburg left five runners on base compared to three for Crown.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS•
Samantha Anderson (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) recorded 14 strikeouts in her college debut, but surrendered two runs in the seventh inning on three hits and the Auggies lost 2-1.•
Augsburg recorded three hits in the game and took the lead after scoring its lone run in the sixth inning whenJenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) laid down a sacrifice bunt and the pitcher made a throwing error which allowed Anfinson to score from second. Anfinson led off the inning with a double to center field.•
Augsburg other two hits were singles by Buckner and Springborn, one in the fifth and the last was Buckner's lead-off single in the seventh, but the Auggies weren't able to rally and left one on base in the final inning. FOR THE FOES• In game one, Cearra Dulaney threw a complete game, surrendering four hits, one run, four walks, while striking out eight Auggie batters.

Sofia Palacios went 2-for-2 with one walk, while Sarah Petkau went 1-for-2 with an RBI.•
Liz King also threw a complete game for the Storm giving up just three hits, one run and stricking out six. UP NEXT•
Both teams finish the weekend with doubleheaders in the Edor Nelson Field dome on Saturday (3/5). Crown faces Loras (Iowa) at 8:30 a.m., and Augsburg hosts UM-Morris in a doubleheader at 12:30 p.m.
