15665MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University forward Alex Rodriguez (SR, Miami, Fla./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

Rodriguez had an incredible opening weekend for the Auggies, claiming a pair of three-goal hat tricks to lead No. 10/11 Augsburg in a pair of victories at the MIAC Showcase. He scored all three goals in a 3-0 win over St. Olaf on Friday, then scored another three goals in a 5-3, come-from-behind win over Hamline on Saturday. The six goals were the most scored by any NCAA Division III player in the opening weekend of the season, and his six overall points were tied for the most on the weekend.

A transfer last season from Division I RPI (N.Y.), Rodriguez now has 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 career points in 76 career games -- 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 29 Augsburg games.

Augsburg hosts a pair of nonconference games against Wisconsin schools this weekend at Ed Saugestad Rink, hosting Wisconsin-Superior this Friday (11/2) at 7 p.m. and Wisconsin-River Falls this Saturday (11/3) at 7 p.m.
