Mangel nets three top-10 finishes at Mac Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Morgan Mangel (JR, St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) claimed three top-10 individual finishes, leading the Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team at the Macalester College Roger Ahlman Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Mangel cut nearly four seconds off her previous career-best in the 100-yard backstroke, setting the eighth-fastest time in school history in the event with a 1:05.73 time, finishing third.
• The holder of seven of the eight fastest times in school history in the 100-yard freestyle, Mangel set a season-best with a 56.14-second effort to place third. The time is now seventh-fastest in school history.
• Mangel also placed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best 2:29.64.
Kristin Kaldahl (SO, Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East HS) also competed in three events for the Auggies at Macalester -- the 200-yard freestyle (2:25.96), 500-yard freestyle (6:44.95) and 100-yard backstroke (1:20.99). Both freestyle efforts were season-best times, the 200-yard by more than four seconds and the 500-yard by almost 12 seconds.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg is now idle until Jan. 24 at 1 p.m., when it competes at the St. Catherine/Macalester Triangular.
