MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team finished in 11th place at the 2020 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, held from Wednesday to Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
WEDNESDAY HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg's 200-yard medley relay ofÂ
Kristin Kaldahl (SO, Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East HS),Â
Kyra Billmann (FY, McFarland, Wis./McFarland HS),Â
Felix Mjelde (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) andÂ
Morgan Mangel (JR, St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) cut nearly 10 seconds off its previous season-best time with a 2:11.70 effort, finishing ninth.
THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS
• Mangel set a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle in Thursday's preliminaries, finishing with the 10th-fastest time in the field in 24.83 seconds. In the "B" final on Thursday night, Mangel finished 12th in 24.90 seconds. The two times are the first sub-25-second efforts in the event in Augsburg history, breaking Mangel's old record of 25.34 seconds, set last season. Mangel now holds eight of the 10 fastest times in school history in the event.
• The Auggie 400-yard medley relay of Mangel, Billmann, Kaldahl and Mjelde finished 11th in 4:56.24.
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
• In Friday's preliminaries, Mangel cut two seconds off her previous personal-best time in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing 19th in the preliminaries in 1:04.41. The time is the sixth-fastest in school history in the event.
• Billmann took almost three seconds off her previous personal-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:16.50, good for 21st in the preliminaries.
• Augsburg's 200-yard freestyle relay of Billmann, Kaldahl, Mjelde and Mangel finished 11th in 1:54.62, a nearly six-second improvement on its previous season-best time.
• As a team, Augsburg stands in 10th place with 47 points after the third day of the competition.
SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
• In Saturday's preliminaries, Mangel recorded a 26th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a 56.42 clocking.
• In the evening session, the Augsburg 400-yard freestyle relay team of Mangel, Kaldahl, Mjelde and Billmann cut more than 15 seconds off its seed time, finishing in a season-best time of 4:15.55.
