Augsburg swimmers compete at Carthage meet

KENOSHA, Wis. -- Kaitlynne Haag (SO, Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne HS) joined the Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team's career top-10 times list in the 200-yard freestyle, leading the Auggies at the three-day Carthage University Classic Invitational, held Thursday to Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Haag had Augsburg's best time in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.75, a 4.79-second improvement on her previous personal-best time and the ninth-best time in the event in Augsburg program history. The school record in the event is 2:02.82, set by Kelsey Knollmueller in 2015. Haag also had Augsburg's top time at the Carthage meet in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.02).
• Lexci Wuorenma (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) led Augsburg's times in the 100-yard freestyle (56.76 and 56.77 seconds), finishing 13th in the event. She also led the Auggies in the 50-yard freestyle (26.00 and 26.01 seconds), finishing 19th.
Katie Kobel (FY, Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington HS) finished 18th in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:41.51, cutting nearly six seconds off her previous collegiate-best time. She also set a season-best 1:16.28 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and cut almost five seconds off her previous best time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:30.26).
• Beth Milam (SO, Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) swam a season-best time in the 500-yard freestyle for the second straight meet, finishing in 5:47.54. She also recorded a 2:11.08 time in the 200-yard freestyle.
Hailey Rathgeber (FY, Dickinson, N.D./Dickinson HS) set season-best times in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.76) and 200-yard freestyle (2:05.80).
Sasha Perez-Ortiz (SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Hopkins HS) competed in the 50-yard freestyle (29.25 seconds), 100-yard freestyle (1:04.06) and 100-yard backstroke (1:15.45), as did Maya Merritt (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) (33.75, 1:11.52, 1:22.15). Julia Stensaas (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Roosevelt HS) competed in the 50-yard freestyle (29.42) and 100-yard freestyle (1:04.40).
Alyssa Maciewski (JR, East Bethel, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) recorded a 209.60 score in one-meter diving (11 dives).
• Augsburg competed in five relays. The 800-yard freestyle relay of Rathgeber, Milam, Haag and Wourenma finished 12th in 8:37.93. The 400-yard medley relay of Milam, Haag, Rathgeber and Wourenma finished 15th in 4:26.74. The 200-yard medley relay of Milam, Haag, Rathgeber and Wourenma finished 16th in 2:00.63. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Rathgeber, Haag, Milam and Wourenma finished 12th in 1:46.00. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Rathgeber, Milam, Haag and Wourenma finished 12th in 3:52.43.
