Auggie track and field teams earn academic honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams both earned Division III All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2020-21 school year, it was announced on Thursday.

Augsburg's men's track and field team had a 3.30 team grade-point average in the 2020-21 school year, while the Auggie women had a 3.33 team GPA. Teams must have a minimum 3.00 GPA to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.

It's the second time in the last four years that both Auggie teams have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, and first under third-year head coach Keith Barnier.

In all, 12 Augsburg competitors in track and field and cross country earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors with cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or better in 2020-21 -- Parker Blake (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS), Taron Busby (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy HS), Mitch Lamers (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) and Fritz Landherr (SO, Tracy, Minn./Tracy Area HS) in track and field, and William McLeer (SR, Cobb, Wis./Iowa-Grant HS), Greg Miller (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS), Aaron Puent (SO, La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse Aquinas HS), Kevin Sethre (JR, Berthoud, Colo./Berthoud HS), Grace Hartman (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS), Chloe Kintop (SO, Foxboro, Wis./Superior HS) and Camryn Masse (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) in cross country. Isabelle Daniels (SO, Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredericksburg HS) earned Academic All-MIAC honors in both track and field and cross country.
