2021 CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT - MEN'S AT-LARGE

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University men's hockey goalie
Daniil Gerasimov (SR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) was named to the Academic All-District 6 At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday.
An accounting and finance major with a 4.00 grade-point average, Gerasimov earned a spot on the elite academic squad, which honors top student-athletes in 12 different NCAA men's sports. The District 6 squad was made up of 11 NCAA Division III student-athletes from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
A two-year starter in goal for the Auggies, Gerasimov was an
All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honoree in the 2019-20 season. He earned Academic All-MIAC honors in both 2019-20 and 2020-21, and was recognized as an American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
In 33 career games and 30 starts in goal at Augsburg, Gerasimov finished with an 18-13-0 record, .931 save percentage and 2.13 goals against-average, with six career shutouts. In an abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, he started three games with a 2-1-0 record, .934 save percentage and 2.01 GAA with one shutout. His save percentage was
second-best among MIAC goalies in overall statistics, with his GAA third-best.
In 2019-20, Gerasimov finished 10-10-0 in 20 starts, with his 2.02 GAA
tops among conference goalies in overall statistics, and his .928 save percentage second-best in the MIAC.
Among NCAA Division III goalies nationally, he finished 17th in GAA and 20th in save percentage, with his five shutouts tied for third-most.
He has spent the last eight years in the United States after emigrating from Russia, playing junior hockey in Philadelphia before enrolling at Augsburg. He is now working as an audit assistant at Deloitte in the Twin Cities.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is part of the
CoSIDA Academic All-America program. Top student-athletes from NCAA Division III programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are eligible for inclusion on the District 6 team, one of eight Division III districts nationwide. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.30 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams. First-team Academic All-District members advance to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by a committee of CoSIDA members and CoSIDA members in each division.
The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
