ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team opened its 2022-23 season with four swimmers competing at the College of St. Catherine Pentathlon on Saturday.

THE BASICS

LOCATION: Butler Center Pool, St. Paul, Minn.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Four Auggie swimmers competed in the pentathlon, which included five 100-yard events in each of the swimming disciplines -- butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and individual medley.
• Lexci Wuorenma (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) had the best Augsburg individual finish, placing 16th in the 100-yard freestyle with a 59.30-second time. She also competed in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.49), 100-yard individual medley (1:16.22 and 100-yard breaststroke (1:33.77).
• Kaitlynne Haag (SO, Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne HS) competed in two events for the Auggies, finishing 23rd in the 100-yard individual medley (1:09.91) and 30th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.18).
• Maya Merritt (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) competed in the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.55), 100-yard freestyle (1:23.65) and 100-yard individual medley (1:39.93).
• Making her Auggie debut, Alina Fuhs (FY, Wiesmoor, Germany/KGS Wiesmoor HS) competed in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.55), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.57), 100-yard backstroke (1:36.17) and 100-yard individual medley (1:26.43).
