2022-23 MIAC MEN'S HOCKEY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University goalie
Samuel Vyletelka (SO, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Vyletelka stopped all 34 shots he faced on
Saturday in Augsburg's 1-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead, claiming his second shutout win of the season and seventh of his college career, breaking the old Augsburg school record of six career shutouts, held by four players. The 34-save effort was his fifth of the season with 30-plus saves.
He improved to 9-4-1 on the year with the victory, with a .911 save percentage and 2.40 goals against-average.
Now 12-8-1 overall and 8-4-0 in MIAC play, Augsburg returns to MIAC action this weekend with a series against Hamline University.
