Auggies break two school records at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa – Two members of the Augsburg University men's track and field team competed at the Wartburg Qualifier on Saturday afternoon, with each of them breaking school records in their final indoor appearances of the season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia, GAP School) broke the school record in the 5000-meter run for the third time this season, finishing second with a time of 14:37.77. The time was nearly nine seconds faster than Bati's previous school record set just last week at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Bati also competed in the 3000-meter run, placing ninth with a time of 9:13.75.  
• Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) broke the Augsburg record in the 800-meter run, placing 11th with a time of 1:55.78. The time bested Matthew Schafer's previous record of 1:56.24 set in 2010.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will now make the transition to the outdoor season, competing at the Point Loma Nazarene Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational over spring break in San Diego, California on Saturday, March 18.
