TOURNAMENT RESULTS

MONTICELLO, Minn. – With four golfers finishing in the top 25 overall, the Augsburg University men's golf team closed its 2022-23 campaign with a season-best effort, finishing in fifth place at the Saint John's University Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg finished in fifth place in the 11-school, 18-team field with a season-best 298 round on Saturday and a 314  round on Sunday. Augsburg's 612 finish marked its best 36-hole tournament score of the season. 
• Sawyer Bailey (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka HS) shot a season-best 149 score (75-74) to tie for ninth in the 100-golfer individual competition. 
• Stellan Orvick (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) shot a 154 total (74-80) total to tie for 22nd place, and Fritz Belisle (JR, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville Area HS) shot a 155 (73-82) total to tie for 25th.
• Jack Robbel (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) finished in a tie for 56th with a 160 (76-84) total, and River Goodmanson (JR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) finished in a tie for 63rd with a 161 (83-78)
• Competing for Augsburg B, Vincent Weis (JR, Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) shot a season-best 153 (74-79) to tie for 20th overall. Owen Goddard (SR, Hopkins, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) shot 176 (91-85), Andrew Hicks (JR, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) shot 186 (92-94) and Calvin Dayton (SO, Long Lake, Minn./Orono HS) shot 196 (97-99).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg finished the 2022-23 season with a 311.1 team stroke average and .562 (59-46) win-loss percentage.
• Orvick led the way for Augsburg in 2022-23, averaging 75.8 strokes per-round with an .806 (533-128) win-loss percentage, the 14th-best single-season stroke average for an Auggie men's golfer in modern history (since 1994-95). His 75.25 career stroke average is currently second-best for an Auggie since 1994-95, behind the 74.88 average of Brett Buckingham (2016-20).
• Four Auggies finished with sub-80 stroke averages this season. Belisle finished with a 77.2 average, Goodmanson finished with a 78.3 average and Robbel finished with a 78.9 average.
