MINNEAPOLIS – Five Augsburg University runners –
Max Jacobson (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Zurich International School, Cross Country/Track and Field),
Chloe Kintop (SR, Foxboro, Wis./Superior HS/Cross Country),
Fritz Landherr (SR, Tracy, Minn./Tracy Area HS/Track and Field),
Aaron Puent (SR, La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse Aquinas HS/Cross Country/Track and Field), and
Sam Scheuneman (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville HS/Cross Country) – were named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country Team, it was announced on Wednesday.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Top student-athletes are nominated for inclusion on the Academic All-District teams by college and university sports information directors. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 28 (women) and June 29 (men).
MAX JACOBSON
In his second year as a member of the cross country team, Jacobson competed in all six meets for Augsburg. He opened the season with a new personal best three-mile time of 16:46.6 and set a new personal record in an 8,000-meter race the following week with a time of 27:15.9 at the Hamline Invitational. At the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Jacobson placed 124
th with an 8k time of 29:28.7. Also a member of the track and field team, Jacobson competed in the 800-meter run at the Holst Invitational, placing 33
rd with a time of 2:23.26.
CHLOE KINTOP
In her fourth season as a member of the cross country team, Kintop competed in each of Augsburg's six meets throughout the fall. She set a season-best 6,000-meter time of 27:39.4 at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on October 15 and placed 153
rd at the MIAC Championships with a 6k time of 28:55.7.
FRITZ LANDHERR
In his senior campaign as a member of the track and field team at Augsburg, Landherr competed mostly in the 200 and 400-meter dashes. He set a new season-best 400-meter dash time of 52.38 seconds at the MIAC Championships, placing 21
st in the conference. His highest individual finish of the year came in the indoor season when he placed third in the 400-meter dash at the Carleton University Meet of the Hearts on February 11.
AARON PUENT
A member of both the cross country and track and field teams at Augsburg, Puent competed at six cross country meets in the fall. He set a new personal-best three-mile time of 18:13.6 at the Twin Cities Twilight and clocked a personal-best 8,000-meter time of 30:00.6 at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational. During the track and field season, Puent set four personal records in the mile run (4:55.49), 800-meter run (2:25.66), 400-meter dash (59.20), and 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:11.80).
SAM SCHEUNEMAN
A senior on the Auggie cross country team, Scheuneman competed six times throughout the fall. He set a new personal record with an 8,000-meter time of 32:56.9 at the Hamline Invitational on September 9 and placed 163
rd at the MIAC Championships with a time of 33:06.9.
