Four Auggies earn MIAC football honors

2024 MIAC FOOTBALL AWARDS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four Augsburg University football players have earned postseason honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their performances during the 2024 season, it was announced on Monday.
 
Offensive lineman Andrew Hahn (SR, Avon, Minn./Albany HS) and linebacker Hamsa Kahin (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Edina HS) both were named to the All-MIAC squad for the second straight year, with wide receiver Tyrone Wilson (JR, Ellendale, Minn./New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva HS) was named All-MIAC for the first time in his career. Offensive lineman Michael Harris (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Tartan HS) earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors for the second straight year. A total of 59 players were named to the All-MIAC squad, with another 28 earning Honorable Mention honors.

Andrew HahnMichael HarrisHahn and Harris were anchors of an offensive line that enabled the Auggies to average 311.8 yards of total offense per-game (224.4 yards passing and 87.4 yards rushing per-game), against 34 sacks and 60 tackles for-loss. Augsburg's offense averaged 4.9 yards per-play (3,118 yards on 640 plays). Hahn played his second season as Augsburg's starting left tackle and his fourth as an offensive line starter, playing in 39 games in his Auggie career, while Harris shifted from left guard to center this season, in his second season on the offensive line. Harris played in 34 games in his Augsburg career.
 
Hamsa KahinKahin concluded his outstanding Auggie career as a linebacker, finishing with 46 tackles (28 solo), to go along with team-best totals of 6.5 sacks (31 yards) and 16.0 tackles for-loss (53 yards). He added two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery. His 6.5 sacks were tied for ninth among MIAC players, with his 16.0 tackles for-loss second-most. He had five or more tackles in seven games this season. In his 32-game collegiate career, Kahin finished with 151 total tackles (99 solo), with 38.0 tackles for-loss and 18.0 sacks (103 yards), with three interceptions, 12 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. His 18.0 career sacks are sixth-most in Augsburg history.

Tyrone WilsonWilson had a career year as Augsburg's primary wide receiver, catching 76 passes for 1,011 yards (the 11th 1,000-yard receiving season in school history) and 13 touchdowns (tied for ninth in a single season in school history) , ranking fourth among MIAC players in receiving yardage and tied for third in receiving touchdowns. He also played in several games as a wildcat-formation quarterback, rushing 23 times for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson had five games with 100 or more receiving yards and had touchdowns in eight of his 10 games, including a four-touchdown performance in the Auggies' 35-34 overtime victory over St. Olaf on Oct. 26. Playing in 29 games in his career, Wilson has now caught 131 passes for 1,743 yards (60.1 yards per-game) and 25 touchdowns (eighth-most in school history).
 
Under coach Derrin Lamker, Augsburg finished the 2023 campaign with a 4-6 overall record, 3-5 in MIAC play. The Auggies are now 21-20 in Lamker's five seasons at the helm.
