Bati sets distance records on back-to-back days

MINNEAPOLIS – Making his 2025 season debut, Mohammed Bati (JR, Dodola, Ethiopia/GAP School) broke his old distance school records on back-to-back days, leading his Augsburg University track and field teams at the St. Olaf College Invitational on Friday and the University of Minnesota Jack Johnson Classic on Saturday.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Bati competed in the 5,000-meter run at the St. Olaf meet on Friday evening, winning the 37-runner event with a 14:15.33 time, breaking his old record of 14:37.67, set last year. Friday's time was a new St. Olaf facility record and a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference all-time indoor record, breaking the old mark of 14:20.51, set by St. Olaf's Will Kelly last year. The time is also currently the third-fastest time among NCAA Division III runners nationally.
• Bati then set a new school record with an 8:18.21 time in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday at the Minnesota meet, finishing third behind two Division I collegiate alumni runners for the Minnesota Distance Elite squad. Bati broke his old school mark of 8:24.31, set last year, and the 8:18.21 time is currently 10th-fastest among NCAA Division III runners nationally.
• Also at the Minnesota meet, Paul Yang (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Washington Tech Magnet HS) finished sixth in the 600-meter run in 1:38.41, and Tanner Rouillard-Horne (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Harding HS) finished eighth in the 800-meter run with a 2:51.28 time.
• Brandon Travis (FY, Baton Rouge, La./Juan Seguin HS) continued his improvement in the jumps, finishing fifth in the triple jump with a 12.46-meter (40-feet-10.5) effort, and placed 11th in the long jump with a 5.54-meter (18-feet-2.25) distance.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Allison Hookom (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) led the Augsburg women at the Minnesota meet, winning the 400-meter dash in 58.16 seconds, currently the second-fastest time among MIAC runners and 14th-fastest among NCAA Division III runners nationally. She also recorded a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 26.72 seconds.
Annabel Lantz (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area HS) finished 10th in the 600-meter run with a 2:09.93 time.
Alwena Brix (FY, Plouay, France/Lycee Jean Mace, Rennes) finished in ninth place in the 800-meter run in 2:34.60, and Davi Worman (SO, Edina, Minn./Groves Academy HS) set a season-best time in the mile run, finishing 12th in 7:16.96.
