6 Auggies earn CSC Academic All-District men's soccer honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Six Augsburg University men's soccer players -- Asher Johnson (JR, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS), Mitchel Munzing (SR, Portland, Ore./Grant HS), Christopher Plaza Alvarado (SO, New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS), Remus Repcak (JR, Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS), Jeffrey Richter (SR, Portland, Ore./La Salle Catholic College Prep HS) and Carver Tierney (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) -- were named to the Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), it was announced on Tuesday.

It's the second straight CSC Academic All-District honor for Repcak, a graphic design major with a 4.00 grade point-average. It's the first CSC honor for the remaining five: Munzing, a biochemistry major with a 3.95 GPA; Plaza Alvarado, a business management major with a 3.87 GPA; Richter, a mathematics/economics major with a 3.68 GPA; and TIerney, a marketing major with a 3.93 GPA. Munzing, Richter and Tierney will advance to the CSC Academic All-America Division III men's soccer national ballot, which will be voted on by Division III sports information directors and announced in December.

Munzing, Richter and Tierney also earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2025 for the Auggies, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III national tournament, finishing with a school-record for victories -- 18-3-3 overall and 7-1-2 in MIAC play under 22nd-year head coach Greg Holker. It marked Munzing's third conference postseason honor (All-MIAC in 2023, All-MIAC Honorable Mention in 2024).

Asher JohnsonA midfielder, Johnson finished the 2025 campaign with one goal and three assists for five points, with 27 shots and 11 shots on-goal, in 1,215 minutes played (55.2 minutes per-game). Starting 19 games, he played 50-plus minutes in 13 of his 22 games. A transfer who played his first two seasons at Division I Mercyhurst (Pa.), Johnson has played in 44 collegiate career games (2,261 minutes, 51.4 minutes per-game), with a goal and four assists for six points.

Mitchel MunzingA dynamic playmaker as a center midfielder, Munzing finished his senior season with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points, starting all 24 games (1,533 minutes, 63.9 minutes per-game) with six game-winning goals. He claimed a goal or assist in 14 of his 24 games this season, including a two-goal effort in the Auggies' 7-0 win over Northwestern-St. Paul on Sept. 3, and another two-goal effort in Augsburg's first-round playoff victory over Occidental (Calif.) on Nov. 15. In his 72-game career (3,933 minutes, 54.6 minutes per-game), Munzing has scored 32 goals with 27 assists for 91 points, with nine game-winning goals. He finished his career fourth in school history in goals, third in assists and second in total points. 

Christopher Plaza AlvaradoPlaza Alvarado made strong contributions, off the bench early this season and as a starting forward late, playing in 23 games (1,424 minutes, 61.9 minutes per-game), starting 12. He scored six goals with three assists for 15 points on 21 shots (13 on-goal), with one game-winning goal and two penalty kicks. Plaza Alvarado claimed a three-goal hat trick in the Auggies' 9-0 win over Linfield (Ore.) on Aug. 31. Playing in 44 career games (2,196 minutes played, 49.9 minutes per-game), Plaza Alvarado has eight goals and seven assists for 23 points.

Remus RepcakRepcak has earned a reputation as a strong defender with an eye for setting up goals, with eight assists to his credit this year. Playing in all 24 games and starting 21 (1,602 minutes, 66.75 minutes per-game), Repcak played 60-plus minutes in 18 of his 24 games, with four full 90-minute efforts. In 63 career games (3,383 minutes played, 53.7 minutes per-game), Repcak has six goals and 25 assists for 37 career points, ranking ninth in school history in career assists.

Jeffrey RichterRichter was a strong presence in Augsburg's backfield, as the defense allowed just 22 goals this season, a 0.91 goals against-average that was third-best in the MIAC. Richter started all 24 games this season, playing in 2,038 minutes (84.9 minutes per-game), scoring two goals with two assists for six points on 15 shots and eight shots on-goal. In his 81 career games at Augsburg (5,593 minutes, 69.0 minutes per-game), Richter scored 11 goals with six assists for 28 points on 30 shots on-goal.

Carver TierneyA transfer who played last season at Division I Mercyhurst (Pa.) and his first two seasons at Division I St. Thomas, Tierney exploded this season, becoming one of the top scorers in Division III. He set single-season school records with 20 goals (six game-winning goals) and 46 points, adding six assists in starting all 24 games (1,706 minutes, 71.1 minutes per-game). Tierney finished the season tied for the MIAC's lead in goals and second in points, and tied for fourth among NCAA Division III players nationally in total goals, sixth in total points and tied for fifth in game-winning goals. He has a goal or assist in 14 of his 24 games, with five multi-goal games, including a four-goal effort in the Auggies' 9-0 win over Linfield on Aug. 31 and a three-goal hat trick in the Auggies' 7-0 win over Northwestern-St. Paul on Sept. 3. In his 59 career collegiate games (2,780 minutes, 50.5 minutes per-game), Tierney scored 24 goals with eight assists for 56 points on 58 shots on-goal, with eight game-winning goals.

The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the CSC Academic All-America program. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in December.

The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
