Bri Dorale (SR, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) went 4-for-8 with four steals and four runs scored to lead the Augsburg College softball team to a split with Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field. Concordia won game one of the doubleheader 3-2, before the Auggies bounced back to win game two by a score of 6-3.
Dorale added four hits Tuesday to push her season total to 49, which is
tops among MIAC players in overall statistics this season, and also added four stolen bases to push her league-high total to 23. Dorale is now batting a team-high .510 on the season, while her 27 runs scored are also a team-high.
Lindsay Helbach (SO, Amherst, Wis.) went 4-for-7 with two runs batted in and two runs scored in the doubleheader, while teammate
Allyson Ruedy (SR, Waseca, Minn.) added three hits and two runs scored for Augsburg (9-19 overall, 2-8 MIAC).
Lauren Hurley (FY, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and a double, while
Brittany Hecker (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) went 3-for-3, including her second double of the season. The Auggies pounded out 19 hits in the doubleheader, compared to nine for Concordia (4-10 overall, 1-1 MIAC).
Amanda Eaton (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) pitched a complete game and struck out seven in the first game, but the Auggies were not able to hold on to an early lead. The Auggies held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Concordia scored a two-out run in both the fifth and sixth to pull ahead and eventually earn the win in the first game.
In game two, the Auggies jumped on top early, scoring three runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. After Concordia answered with two runs in the bottom half of the first, the two teams traded zero's before Augsburg added three more in the top of the sixth to cruise to the victory.
Olivia Boerschinger (JR, Neenah, Wis.) was the pitcher of record for Augsburg in the second game, as she allowed four hits in six innings to earn her fourth win of the season. Eaton pitched a scoreless seventh in relief to earn her first save of the season.
The Auggies will now wait and see what the weather holds for their upcoming schedule. Thursday afternoon's doubleheader against St. Benedict has already been postponed with no rescheduling date set. Continue to check
