MINNEAPOLIS -- For the second straight year, Augsburg College men's basketball post player Dan Kornbaum (SR, Little Falls, Minn.) was named to all-region and all-district teams from D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, this year as first-team honorees, it was announced on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, Kornbaum was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region first team, and on Tuesday, Kornbaum was named to the NABC All-West District first team. Last year, Kornbaum earned second-team West all-region/district honors from both groups.

Kornbaum's award is the fifth Auggie all-region honoree selected by D3hoops.com, a national website that covers NCAA Division III basketball, since the awards were established in 2001-02. Andy Grzesiak-Grimm was named a third-team selection in 2011-12, Nate Alm was named as a third-team selection in 2008-09, and Lucas Olson-Patterson was a second-team selection in 2004-05. His NABC honor is the fourth earned by an Auggie, joining Devean George '99, who was an All-West District first-team honoree in both 1997-98 and 1998-99.

Kornbaum had the best year of his collegiate career this season, earning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, in addition to being named to the All-MIAC team for the second straight year. Kornbaum was also named as one of 10 finalists nationwide for the Jostens Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding student-athlete in NCAA Division III basketball. He will also play in the Reese's Division III All-Star Game in Salem, Va., this Saturday (3/22), after winning an online vote on the D3hoops.com website.

Kornbaum was one of the most dominant big men in small-college basketball this season, averaging 19.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per-game. He was the MIAC's scoring champion in both overall (19.3) and conference games-only (19.1). In MIAC overall statistics, Kornbaum led the league in points scored (502), field goals made (208) and blocked shots (43), while ranking second in field-goal percentage (.667), rebounds per-game (7.9), overall rebounds (205) and offensive rebounds (66), and ranking third in defensive rebounds (139).

Among NCAA Division III players nationally, Kornbaum ranks fourth in field-goal percentage (.667) and ninth in field goals made (208), while ranking 58th in points per-game (19.3). He recorded six point-rebound double-doubles this season, while recording 20-plus points 13 times.

In two seasons at Augsburg after transferring from Division II Minnesota-Duluth (54 games, 54 starts), Kornbaum recorded 1,015 points (18.8 ppg), along with 430 rebounds (8.0 rpg), 81 blocked shots, 31 steals and 84 assists. His 1,015 Augsburg points are 20th-most in school history, while his 18.8 points per-game are fifth-best and 8.0 rebounds per-game are tied for ninth-best. His 81 blocked shots are fifth-most in school history, and his .625 field-goal percentage is second-best.

Including his two seasons at Minnesota-Duluth (107 games, 57 starts), Kornbaum finished his college career with 1,296 points (12.1 ppg). 607 rebounds (5.7 rpg), 126 blocked shots, 88 assists, 40 steals and a .611 field-goal percentage.
