Cooper earns medalist honors in Auggie dual win

RESULTS

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Harrison Cooper (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) shot a 1-over-par 73 to earn medalist honors for Augsburg University, as the Auggies edged the University of Northwestern-St. Paul 319-323 in a men's golf dual meet on Thursday at Keller Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cooper claimed a two-stroke victory over Northwestern's Noah Johnson to earn medalist honors for the first time this season and second time in his career.
• The other four Auggie golfers occupied spots five through eight in the 10-player meet. Brett Buckingham (JR, Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) finished in fifth place with an 81 score, while Bob Harnagel (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eastview HS) shot a season-best 82.
• Dakota Krech (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) shot 83 in his final collegiate meet, and David Walker (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) shot 86.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• As a team, Augsburg finished with a 303.8 season stroke average and .533 (73-64) team win-loss percentage. It's the sixth straight season that Augsburg has finished with a season stroke average better than 310.0.
• Buckingham led the Auggies this season with a 74.3 stroke average, one of four Auggies with sub-78 averages. Krech had a 75.8 average, Cooper had a 75.9 average and Gunnar Goodmanson (SO, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS), who was unable to compete in the spring half of the season due to injury, had a 77.3 average.
