Lewis sets 6th-fastest time in D-III in 60

ST. OLAF WOMEN'S INVITATIONAL RESULTS


MINNEAPOLIS --  Jada Lewis (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Edison HS) broke a 15-year-old school record in the women's 60-meter dash, setting the sixth-fastest time in the nation in the event at the University of Minnesota Cold Classic on Friday to lead the Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Lewis broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a 7.67-second time, finishing second in the Minnesota meet. Her time broke the old record of 7.69 seconds, set by Tonnisha Bell in 2005. She improved upon her lead among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sprinters in the event, and now stands sixth-fastest among all NCAA Division III sprinters nationally. Lewis also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best 26.00-second time, the second-fastest time in the MIAC and 31st among Division III runners nationally.
• Jordan Terry (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) blasted her previous personal-best effort in the long jump, set last week, by a foot with a 5.06-meter (16-feet-7.25) leap, good for second at the Minnesota meet and currently seventh-best among MIAC competitors. She also set a personal-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing 15th in 29.56 seconds.
• Joy Cooper (FY, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) finished seventh in the 60-meter dash with an 8.46-second time, and 14th in the 200-meter dash with a 29.48-second time.
• Hope Kannare (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) set a season-best time in the 400-meter dash, finishing 11th with a 1:07.98 time.
• Grace Hartman (SO, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) finished 13th in the 800-meter run in 2:56.66, and Zoe Barany (FY, Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East HS) finished 14th in the mile run in 5:39.20.
• Destiny Cummings (SO, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) finished 15th in the shot put iwth a 10.80-meter (35-feet-5.25) effort.
• Competing at the St. Olaf College Women's Invitational on Friday in Northfield, Minn., Ann Sheely (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) set a personal-best time in the 1,000-meter run, finishing 19th in 3:18.87. Riley Pohl (FY, Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS) finished 23rd in the event in 3:22.33.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Varney Conneh (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had another strong effort in the 60-meter dash at the Minnesota meet, finishing fifth in 7.03 seconds. His time is now third-fastest among MIAC runners in the event. He also finished 11th in the 200-meter dash in 23.68 seconds.
• Jaison Moore (FY, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) set a personal-best distance in the long jump, finishing sixth with a 6.18-meter (20-feet-3.5) effort, good for 24th among MIAC competitors. He also finished ninth in the 60-meter dash in 7.26 seconds, and 13th in the 200-meter dash in a season-best 23.80 seconds.
• Taron Busby (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy HS) continued to set personal-best times in the sprints, finishing 13th in the 60-meter dash in 7.28 seconds, and 14th in the 200-meter dash in 24.20 seconds.
• Mahamed Hassan (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) finished eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:11.29, Gabriel Olajonlu (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) finished 10th in the 400-meter dash in 55.49 seconds, and Sakariya Hussien (FY, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) finished 14th in the mile run in 4:37.72.
• Four Auggies had solid efforts in the 3,000-meter run, with Greg Miller (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) leading the way with a fourth-place, 9:31.81 finish. Greg Miller (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) set another personal-best time in 9:50.43, finishing eighth, while Kevin Sethre (SO, Berthoud, Colo./Berthoud HS) set a personal-best 9:57.45 to finish ninth, and Aaron Puent (FY, La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse HS) set a personal-best time in 10:01.75, finishing 10th.
• Alex Bailey (JR, Palmer Lake, Colo./Lewis-Palmer HS) finished sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.76 meters (5-feet-9.25), while Fritz Landherr (FY, Tracy, Minn./Tracy Area HS) finished eighth with a 1.66-meter (5-feet-5.25) clearance.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg will compete at the MIAC Indoor Championships this Thursday to Saturday (2/27-29) at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
