Haag scores event win at St. Catherine Triangular

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kaitlynne Haag (FY, Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne HS) claimed an event win in the 100-yard breaststroke, leading the Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team in a triangular meet with Concordia College-Moorhead at St. Catherine University on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Haag scored an event win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.26, winning the event by nearly a full second over the rest of the field.
• Morgan Mangel (SR, St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) finished fifth for the Auggies in the 50-yard freestyle, with a 26.19-second time. 
• Kristin Kaldahl (JR, Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East HS) cut more than a second off her season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle (2:32.72). She also competed in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.38) and 500-yard freestyle (6:50.68).
• Sasha Perez-Ortiz (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Hopkins HS) took almost three seconds off her previous season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.69), finishing eighth. She also set a season-best time in the 50-yard freestyle (29.35 seconds).
• Lily Helmer (FY, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) competed in the 100-yard butterfly (1:25.39) and 100-yard backstroke (1:27.67), while Maya Merritt (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) competed in the 100-yard freestyle, setting a season-best time (1:14.99), and the 100-yard backstroke (1:27.67). 
• Augsburg's 400-yard medley relay (Mangel, Haag, Helmer, Milam) set a season-best tie of 4:46.86, and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Mangel, Perez Oritz, Milam, Haag) finished in 4:09.56.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg finishes its abbreviated 2021 season next Saturday and Sunday (3/6-7) with a four-team meet at the University of Minnesota.
