Auggies close men's golf year with win over Eagles

MEET RESULTS 

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – With four golfers shooting rounds of 77 or better, the Augsburg University men's golf team closed its 2021-22 season with a dual-meet victory over the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday afternoon at Keller Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• River Goodmanson (SO, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) paced the Auggies with a single-round 3-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors in the 13-player meet, his 10th round in the 70s among his 12.5 rounds this season.
• Jack Robbel (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) finished second with a 4-over-par 76, his 11th round shot in the 70s among his 17.5 this season, and his fourth among his five rounds in the spring half of the season.
• Stellan Orvick (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS), Augsburg's team leader this season with a 75.2 scoring average, carded a 5-over-par 77 to tie for third  his 16th round in the 70s in his 17.5 rounds this season. 
• Competing as an individual, Joe Burbach (FY, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) shot a career-best 77 to tie Orvick for third place.
• Sawyer Bailey (SO, Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka HS) finished with an 72 to place seventh, and Andrew Hicks (SO, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS), competing as an individual, finished with an 86 to tie for eighth.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg finished the 2021-22 season with a 310.1 team scoring average, with four individuals finishing with scoring averages in the 70s -- Orvick at 75.2, Fritz Belisle (SO, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville HS) at 77.7, Robbel at 78.1 and Goodmanson at 78.5. 
• Orvick currently stands 11th among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's golfers in scoring average.
