Auggies compete at Gopher Classic

MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) brought home the lone event win for Augsburg, claiming the top spot in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:25.00, the seventh fastest indoor 600-meter time in Augsburg history.
• Sakariya Hussien (SR, Hopkins, MInn./Hopkins HS) placed seventh in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:26.26, ranking as the tenth-fastest time in school history.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Allison Hookom (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) placed second in the 400-meter dash, tying her personal record, and the second-fastest clocking in the school history, set just a week ago at 58.92 seconds. Hookom also competed in the 200-meter dash, setting a new personal record and placing sixth with a time of 26.79 seconds that ranks ninth-all-time at Augsburg. 
• CC Cesare (FY, Crystal, Minn./Armstrong HS) made her career debut in the triple jump, placing eighth with a leap of 9.91 meters. That distance immediately puts Cesare in the record books, ranking as Augsburg's third farthest distance all-time in the indoor triple jump.

• The Auggies will compete at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College on Saturday, February 11 with events beginning at 11 am.
