Auggies grab ten top-ten finishes at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed at their second meet this week, participating among Division I, II, and III competition at the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Varney Conneh (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) put up a season-best performance in the 100-meter dash, placing third and clocking a time of 11.05 seconds. Conneh also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 23.10 seconds.
• Trajen Clayton (FY) also put together a pair of top ten finishes in the hurdles. He placed fourth and set a new personal record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.07 and finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.40 seconds.
Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia, GAP School) competed in the 1500-meter run for the second time this season, finishing seventh with a time of 4:02.45.
Fritz Landherr (SR, Tracy, Minn./Tracy Area HS) also snagged a top-ten finish, landing in 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.86 seconds.
• The Auggie 4x400-meter relay team of Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS), Sakariya Hussien (SR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS), Bereket Wondimu (JR, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS), and Landherr finished third overall with a time of 3:33.28.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Allison Hookom (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) competed in a pair of sprinting events, placing fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.07 seconds and 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.11 seconds.
CC Cesare (FY, Crystal, Minn./Armstrong HS) had another strong showing in the triple jump, placing fourth after clearing 10.40 meters on her second attempt of the afternoon.
Santrice Rodriguez (SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Fridley HS) narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish in the 100-meter dash, placing 13th with a time of 13.30 seconds.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies are once again slated for a pair of meets next week, first competing at the St. Thomas Tomcat Twilight on Wednesday (5/3) before competing at the Hamline Meet of the UnSaintly on Friday (5/5).
