Auggie men, women each finish 11th at MIAC Championships

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, with the Auggie men finishing 11th with 11 points and the women taking 11th with 14 points.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) set a new personal record and grabbed five points for the Auggie men in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 1:55.02 to finish in fourth place. Asfaw also competed in the 1500-meter run, earning an additional point by placing eighth and clocking a new personal record and the second-fastest time in school history at 3:58.25.
• Varney Conneh (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) placed fourth and nabbed five more points in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 11.01 seconds. His preliminary time of 10.90 seconds on Friday was a new personal record.
Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia, GAP School) finished 12th in the 5,000-meter run, clocking a time of 15:03.45.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Allison Hookom (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) grabbed the only podium position for the Auggies on the weekend, finishing second in the 400-meter dash and earning eight points with a time of 58.48 seconds. Hookom also qualified for finals in the 200-meter dash, placing ninth with a time of 26.67 seconds.
• CC Cesare (FY, Crystal, Minn./Armstrong HS) shattered her own school record in the outdoor triple jump, clearing 11.31 meters in her final attempt of the afternoon. With that distance, Cesare placed fourth in the conference and earned five more points for the Auggie women.
• The Augsburg 4x100-meter relay team of Mya Bishop (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Highland HS), Santrice Rodriguez (SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Fridley HS), Cesare, and Hookom finished eighth, earning one final point for Augsburg.

UP NEXT
• The select group of Auggies will compete at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance Qualifier next Saturday in La Crosse, Wis.
