LA CROSSE, Wis. – Five members of the Augsburg University men's track and field team competed at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday with one last opportunity to clock qualifying times for the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS

Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) set a new personal record in the 8,000-meter run for the second consecutive meet, clocking a time of 1:54.45 to finish in third place. That time ranks as the third-fastest in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season.

Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia, GAP School) competed in the 5,000-meter run, taking more than 20 seconds off his time last weekend with a time of 14:42.06, good for third place overall.

Varney Conneh (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) competed in a pair of sprinting events, clocking a 10.93 in the 100-meter dash and a 22.47 in the 200-meter dash, placing eighth in both events.

Sakariya Hussien (SR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) competed in both the 800 and 1500, placing 12
th in the 800 with a time of 1:57.35 and finsihign 19
th in the 1500 with a time of 4:14.71.

Bereket Wondimu (JR, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) also competed in both the 800 and 1500, placing 23
rd in the 800 with a time of 2:02.55 and coming in 20
th in the 1500 with a time of 4:30.61.
