MINNEAPOLIS. – Augsburg University's
Allison Hookom (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS),
Mohammed Bati (SO, Dodola, Ethiopia/GAP School), and
Kameron Smith (FY, Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit HS) each earned individual honors at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Hookom secured All-MIAC honors in two events and claimed an individual conference title for the second straight indoor season, winning the 600-meter dash and setting a new school record with a time of 1:35.71 and placing second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.13 seconds.
Bati also claimed All-MIAC honors for the second time in as many indoor seasons, clocking a new school record time of 14:37.67 to place second in the 5,000-meter run.
Smith found success in a pair of jumping events in his first appearance at the conference championships, earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention nods with sixth-place finishes in both the long jump and the triple jump. His leap of 6.40 meters in the long jump is the fifth-farthest in school history while his mark of 13.19 meters in the triple jump sits sixth in program history.
A select group of Auggies will compete at the Wartburg College Final Qualifier this weekend with one final chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships the following weekend.
