Auggies continue indoor season at Gopher Classic

MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams continued their indoor seasons on Saturday afternoon, competing at the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Kameron Smith (FY, Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit HS) was the highest individual finisher for the Auggie men as he set a new personal record in the long jump, clearing 6.22 meters to land in sixth place among the 19 jumpers. Smith also competed in the 60-meter dash, claiming 29th in the 62-runner field with a time of 7.46 seconds.
Getinat Asfaw (SR. Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) competed in the 800-meter run for the first time this season, claiming seventh place behind a time of 1:57.53. Shareef Oty (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) also competed in the 800, setting a new personal record for the second week in a row with a 2:03.35 clocking.
Eman Clement (FY, Stone Mountain, Ga./Towers HS) made his collegiate debut in the 400-meter dash, finishing 16th with a time of 54.76 seconds.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Allison Hookom (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) continued to dominate the sprinting events, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.80 seconds and placing third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.97 seconds.
• Annabel Lantz (JR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area HS) placed 12th in the women's 600 meter with a time of 2:10.07.
Takia Campbell (FY, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) placed 33rd among the 51 competitors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.67 seconds.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will compete at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College next Saturday with events beginning at 11 am in Northfield.
