TOURNAMENT RESULTS
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – Behind a second-round 66 shot by
Stellan Orvick (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS), the Augsburg University men's golf team opened the spring half of the 2023-24 season with a second-place finish at its own spring invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Keller Golf Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Orvick finished in a tie for second place in the 47-player field with a 36-hole total of 140 (74-66). His second-round 66 is the third-best single round shot in the modern history of Augsburg's men's golf team (1994-95 to present), just a stroke off the school record of 65, set by Tony Vanyo in 2008 and Harrison Cooper in 2017. His 140 total is the third-best 36-hole round for an Auggie since the 1994-95 season, behind a 136 shot by Cooper in 2017 and 137 shot by Brett Gaustad in 2017.
• As a team, Augsburg's "A" squad finished in second place in the seven-school, eight-team tournament with a 595 (301-294) total. Augsburg's "B" squad finished in eighth place with a 665 (333-332) total.

Sawyer Bailey (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka HS) also had a strong effort for the Auggies, finishing in a tie for fifth place with a two-day total of 148 (73-75), with his 148 just a stroke off his career 36-hole best.

Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville Area HS) finished in seventh place with a career-best 36-hole total of 149 (75-74).
• Making his Auggie debut,
Nick Mountain (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS), a transfer from Gustavus, shot 157 (79-78) as an individual to finish in a tie for 22nd place.

River Goodmanson (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) finished in a tie for 24th place with a 158 (79-79) total and
Vincent Weis (SR, Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) finished in a tie for 32nd place with a 162 (80-82) score.
• For the Auggie B squad,
Hunter Ubel (FY, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) led the way with a season-best 160 (81-79) score,
Luke Mountain (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) shot 162 (81-81),
Vince Bertram (FY, St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) shot a season-best 168 (92-86) and
Reece Moore (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) shot 175 (89-86).
Zach Woodhead (SR, Orono, Minn./Orono HS), competing as an individual, shot a season-best 178 (93-85).
