TOURNAMENT RESULTS

MONTICELLO, Minn. – Seniors Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville Area HS) and River Goodmanson (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) both finished in the top 30 in their final collegiate meets, as the Augsburg University men's golf team closed its 2023-24 season with a ninth-place finish at the Saint John's University Spring Invitational, held on Saturday and Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Belisle shot an 8-over-par 151 (78-73) to tie for 21st place in the 84-player field, while Goodmanson shot 153 (77-76) to tie for 28th place. 
• With an all-senior lineup as a team, Augsburg finished in ninth place in the 10-school, 14-team tournament with a two-day total of 615. Augsburg shot 315 in the first round in Sauk Rapids, Minn., and followed up with a 300 in the second round in Monticello, Minn.
• Sawyer Bailey (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka HS) finished with a 159 (75-82) total to tie for 45th place, while Stellan Orvick (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) shot 159 (85-74) to tie for 51st and Vincent Weis (SR, Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) shot 162 (85-77) to tie for 58th.
• Competing as individuals, Hunter Ubel (FY, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) shot 155 (84-82), Nick Mountain (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) shot 172 (82-90), Reece Moore (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) shot 176 (87-89), Andrew Hicks (SR, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) shot 181 (92-89), and Vince Bertram (FY, St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) shot 182 (84-98).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Orvick finished the 2023-24 season with a career-best 73.7 season stroke average, the best single-season average in the "modern history" of Augsburg's men's golf program (since 1994-95). He is the first Auggie since 1994-95 to finish a season with a sub-74.0 stroke average, bettering the old record of 74.04, set by Brett Gaustad in 2016-17.
• Orvick's 74.74 career stroke average (4,671 strokes, 62.5 rounds) is also a school record (since 1994-95), bettering the old career record of 74.88, set by Brett Buckingham (2016-20, 5,990 strokes, 80 rounds).
• Belisle finished the season with a career-best 75.6 stroke average, the 12th-best single-season average in program history. His three-season career average of 76.62 (3,333 strokes, 43.5 rounds) is sixth-best in school history.
• Goodmanson had a 77.9 season average and closed his career with a 77.75 average (4,937 strokes, 63.5 rounds), 13th in school history.
• As a team, Augsburg finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 303.2 team stroke average, the fourth-best season average for the Auggies since the 2007-08 campaign.
