Five Auggies named CSC Academic All-District in softball

2024 CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT - SOFTBALL

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University softball players Zoie Johnson (JR, Carlton, Minn./Esko HS), Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), Olivia O'Connor (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), Libby Moore (SR, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) and Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Division III softball team on Tuesday.

Johnson, Manecke, O'Connor and Rehder all repeated their CSC Academic All-District honors from last season. All five Auggies also earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2023, with Manecke and O'Connor also earning Academic All-MIAC honors in softball in 2022.

Zoie JohnsonA biochemistry major with a 3.66 grade-point average, Johnson will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, based on a vote of the CSC Academic All-America national committee. She also earned All-MIAC honors this season

Augsburg's starting right fielder, Johnson hit .321 (36-of-112) in 2024, with five doubles, two home runs, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored, a .421 slugging percentage and .389 on-base percentage, with a team-leading 14 outfield assists on defense. She had a hit in 25 of her 39 games played this season, with nine multiple-hit games and five multiple-RBI games. She had an 11-game hitting streak midway through the season, tied for the longest streak on the team.

Starting 103 of 111 games in her three seasons, Johnson is hitting .315 (99-of-314) in her career, with 16 doubles, nine home runs (seventh in school history), 51 RBI, 46 runs scored, a .452 slugging percentage and .356 on-base percentage.

Katie ManeckeA mathematics and data science major with a 3.98 GPA, Manecke was an All-MIAC selection in the 2021 season. Augsburg's starting center fielder, Manecke was a strong presence at the top of the Auggie batting order, hitting in the leadoff spot in 19 games and No. 2 spot in 20 games. She hit .233 (28-of-120) on the season, with a team-best 30 runs scored, one double, 12 RBI, a team-best 19 walks, a .242 slugging percentage and .343 on-base percentage. She had at least one hit in 21 of her 40 games played this season, with five multi-hit games. She was a perfect 10-of-10 in stolen bases and had a team-best six sacrifice bunts in the season.

Starting 146 of 148 games in her four-season career, Manecke hit .278 (120-of-432) in her career, with 90 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, 34 RBI, 56 walks, a .301 slugging percentage, .370 on-base percentage, 12 sacrifice bunts and 32 stolen bases in 34 attempts. Her 90 runs scored are tied for 10th-most in school history, with her 32 stolen bases ninth-most and 56 walks tied for eighth-most.

Also a guard on Augsburg's women's basketball team, Manecke earned Academic All-MIAC honors twice and CSC Academic All-District honors twice in basketball.

Libby MooreA special education major with a 3.98 GPA, Moore was an All-MIAC Honorable Mention selection in the 2023 season. A pitcher and designated player, Moore had a 4-1 record, one save and a 2.32 earned-run average in 16 games (seven starts) this season, pitching three complete games. In 54.1 innings in the pitching circle, Moore had 25 strikeouts against 15 walks, with a .271 opponent batting average. At the plate in 28 games this season, Moore hit .224 (13-of-58) with six runs scored, three doubles, seven RBI, a .276 slugging percentage and .224 on-base percentage.

Playing three seasons of softball at Augsburg (63 games, 45 starts), Moore went 7-9 as a pitcher in 39 appearances (17 starts, 11 complete games) with a 7-9 record, four saves and a 2.92 ERA in 148.2 innings. She had 60 strikeouts against 61 walks in her Auggie career, with a .267 opponent batting average. Her four saves are tied for fourth-most in school history.

Olivia O'ConnorA social work major with a 3.97 GPA, O'Connor earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in the 2023 campaign. A pitcher, O'Connor appeared in 20 games (14 starts) this season, with nine complete games and one shutout in 94.0 innings pitched. She had a 10-6 record and 3.65 ERA this season, with 55 strikeouts against 26 walks and a .307 opponent batting average. She had four or more strikeouts in seven of her 20 pitching appearances this season, with nine strikeouts on Feb. 27 against Northland (Wis.) and eight strikeouts on March 9 against Mitchell (Conn.).

Pitching in 75 games (66 starts) in her Augsburg career, O'Connor finished her career with a 25-41 record and 4.19 ERA, with three shutouts and 47 complete games in 401.0 innings pitched. She recorded 231 strikeouts against 143 walks in her 401.0 innings pitched, with a .320 opponent batting average. Her 231 strikeouts are sixth-most in Augsburg program history. At the plate in 89 games, she had a .168 (25-of-149) batting average, with five runs scored, five doubles, 18 RBI, a .201 slugging percentage and .210 on-base percentage.

Torrie RehderRehder is a psychology major with a 3.72 GPA. Augsburg's starting shortstop in all 116 of her career games, Rehder hit .297 (38-of-128) in 39 games this season, as either Augsburg's leadoff hitter (21 games) or No. 2 hitter (18 games). She scored 24 runs, while connecting on six doubles and a home run, with 13 RBI, a .367 slugging percentage and .359 on-base percentage. She also had a team-leading 12 stolen bases in 14 attempts, tied for 13th among MIAC players in steals. She had a hit in 27 of her 39 games this year, with 10 multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games. She had 115 defensive assists this year, third-most in a single season in school history, including a school-record-tying (non-pitcher) eight in a game against Macalester on April 23.

In her career, Rehder is now hitting .275 (101-of-367), with 67 runs scored, 23 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 47 RBI, a .379 slugging percentage, .333 on-base percentage and 26 stolen bases in 28 attempts. Her 264 career defensive assists are eighth-most in school history.

Also a defensive specialist on Augsburg's volleyball team, Rehder earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors and CSC Academic All-District honors this past fall. She has also earned Academic All-MIAC honors twice in her career in volleyball.

Under eighth-year head coach Melissa Lee, Augsburg finished with a 26-14 overall record and 11-11 conference mark in 2024, tying the school's single-season record for overall victories (26-10 in 1983). Augsburg has now recorded 20-plus wins for the second year in a row, and the fourth time in her eight-season tenure. It's the 17th time Augsburg has recorded 20-plus victories since the 1980 season.

The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the CSC Academic All-America program. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. Select Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
