Four Auggies earn MIAC track and field honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University's Evan Bergemann (SR, Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS), Varney Conneh (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS), Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS), and Jordan Terry (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) each earned various Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason track and field honors, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday. 

Evan BergemannBergemann earned the lone All-MIAC nod for the Auggies at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, finishing third in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.99 meters. He recorded a season-best throw of 55.69 meters just a week prior at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline University, giving him the second best mark in the MIAC this season.



Varney ConnehConneh earned All-MIAC honorable mention honors in the 100-meter dash, claiming fifth place with a time of 11.00 seconds in the finals. In the preliminaries just a day earlier, he clocked a time of 10.91 seconds, a new personal record that ranks fourth in the conference this season. He was also just one spot off from being an honorable mention in the 200-meter dash as he finished in seventh place with a time of 22.74 seconds. 


Sakariya HussienHussien was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. He was two spots off of an honorable mention nod in the 1500-meter run, claiming eighth place with a new personal-best time of 4:03.68.


Jordan TerryTerry earned her first career All-MIAC honorable mention after finishing sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.10 meters, a new season high for the senior that ranks 12th in the conference this year.
