2022 IWLCA ACADEMIC HONOR SQUADS
2022 IWLCA DIVISION III ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
MINNEAPOLIS -- For the seventh time in program history, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team has earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Squad honors, with two Auggies earning individual IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll honors, it was announced on Wednesday.
To receive the team honor, women's lacrosse squads must maintain a 3.2 or higher team grade-point average for the 2021-22 academic year. A total of 398 women's lacrosse teams across all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA earned the team academic award. This year's Augsburg squad claimed a 3.45 cumulative team GPA. Augsburg has earned the academic honor in seven of its nine seasons as a varsity program -- 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
For individual Academic Honor Roll honors, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Fifteen Auggies have earned the honor since the program started in 2014.
Earning individual Academic Honor Roll honors for Augsburg were
Alex Davis (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS) and
Alexa Martin (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS). Both also earned
Midwest Women's Lacrosse All-Academic honors earlier this spring. The IWLCA honor is the first for both players. Davis is a business management major with a 3.74 GPA, while Martin is a secondary education/communication art/literature major with a 3.61 GPA.

An attacker, Davis started 13 of Augsburg's 16 games this season, with four ground balls and a caused turnover. She was named to the
All-MWLC Sportsmanship Team this season. Martin, a goalie and defender, started 15 of 16 games this season, with 19 ground balls, six draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. She appeared in two games as a goalie, making 15 saves.
Under ninth-year coach
Kathryn Knippenberg, Augsburg finished 0-16 overall and 0-5 in MWLC play in 2022.
