2022-23 MIAC MEN'S GOLF AWARDS

Stellan OrvickMINNEAPOLIS -- For the third straight year, Augsburg University men's golfer Stellan Orvick (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) has earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors, it was announced on Monday.

Orvick is now among 43 MIAC men's golfers in recorded history (since 1984-85) to earn at least three All-MIAC honors, and one of four Auggies to accomplish the feat; Auggies Ben Erickson (1993-96), Todd Tourand (1996-99) and Brett Buckingham (2017-20) all earned the all-conference honor four times.

Orvick led the way for Augsburg in the 2022-23 season, averaging 75.8 strokes per-round with an .806 (533-128) win-loss percentage, the 14th-best single-season stroke average for an Auggie men's golfer in modern history (since 1994-95). His 75.8 season stroke average is currently 10th-best among MIAC players. He finished among the top 20 individuals in four of his seven events this season, including a second-place finish at the Augsburg Fall Invitational on Sept. 3-4. Orvick finished in a tie for 21st place at the 2022 MIAC Championships in October. He scored in the 70s in 15 of his 17 rounds this season.

His 75.25 career stroke average is currently second-best for an Auggie since 1994-95, behind the 74.88 average of Brett Buckingham (2016-20). He has an .818 (1,205-269) career win-loss percentage, with nine top-10 finishes and seven top-five finishes in 20 career events. He has also been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America/PING Division III All-Central Region Team each of the prior two seasons.

According to the MIAC: "The MIAC Men's Golf All-Conference team was selected using a combination of MIAC championship results and end-of-season voting. The top 10 finishers (including ties) at the MIAC Championship last fall automatically earned All-MIAC honors, and coaches nominated and voted on five additional players to the All-MIAC squad based on their body of work throughout the season. The conference also recognized honorable mention selections, bestowing the accolade upon any individual who did not place among the top-five vote-getters but still received votes from at least three coaches."

Under ninth-year head coach Eric Rolland, Augsburg finished the 2022-23 season with a 311.1 team stroke average and .562 (59-46) win-loss percentage, its ninth time in the last 10 seasons with a team stroke average of 311 or better. Augsburg finished in sixth place at the 2022 MIAC Championships.
