MINNEAPOLIS -- For the fourth time in his career and second week in a row, Augsburg University midfielder
Mitchel Munzing (JR, Portland, Ore./Grant HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Munzing extended his goal-scoring streak to six straight games with a five-goal, four-assist week to open MIAC play for the 8-1-1 (2-0-0 MIAC) Auggies. On Tuesday, he scored a goal with two assists in the
Auggies' 5-2 win over Hamline. On Saturday, he scored a goal in
Augsburg's 4-2 win over Saint Mary's. On Sunday, he claimed his third career hat trick, and second in an 11-day span, figuring in five of Augsburg's six goals in a
6-2 win over UW-River Falls. He scored three goals with two assists for an eight-point afternoon against the Falcons.
In his six-game goal-scoring streak, he has 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.
His 10 goals and 26 points on the season lead the MIAC, with his six assists ranking second among MIAC players.
His 10 goals and 26 points are both third among all NCAA Division III players nationally, with his six assists fifth-most.
Augsburg's 8-1-1 record is its best 10-game start to a season since 2021, when the Auggies started 9-1-0 en route to a 12-6-1 overall (6-3-1 MIAC) finish. The Auggies travel to face
