Auggies compete in Gopher Classic

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

MINNEAPOLIS-- The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed for the third time this season on Saturday afternoon at the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Mya Bishop (SO, St. Paul Minn./Highland HS) was the top overall finisher for the Auggies, taking second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.11 seconds. She also finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a new personal-best time of 8.74 seconds. Savannah Smith (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) nabbed a fifth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 33.8 seconds and Caron Iteghete (SO, Minneapolis/Park Center HS) finished sixth with a time of 35.03 seconds.
Brianna Parsons (SO, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) recorded a new personal record and finished eighth in the 60m with a time of 8.74 seconds. Annabel Lantz (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area HS) also recorded a new personal best, clocking a 400-meter time of 1:11.43 to finish in 12th place.
Jordan Terry (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) finished in sixth place in the long jump with a distance of 4.47 meters (14'8").

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Varney Conneh made his season debut on Saturday, finished seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.16 seconds.
Sharrod Longs Jr. (FY, Minneapolis/South HS) was the top Auggie finisher in both the 200-meter and 400-meter, betting two new personal bests with times of 24.29 seconds and 54.38 seconds, respectively.
• A pair of Auggies finished top-ten in the 800-meter, with Bereket Wondimu (SO, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) finishing seventh with a time of 2:06.85 and Sam Scheuneman (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville HS) clocking a time of 2:29.54 to finish ninth.
• In a field of 31 runners, Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) finished in 12th place in the mile run with a time of 4:24.05.
Brandon Doe (FY, Roseville, Minn./Irondale HS) recorded a new personal-best time of 8.77 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish in seventh place.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg will compete at Carleton Invitational in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday (2/12) with events beginning at 10 a.m.
