WINONA, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 2022 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the Saint Mary's University Track and Field Complex in Winona, Minn.

FRIDAY RESULTS
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Jordan Terry (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in the women's long jump, finishing in sixth place with a season-high distance of 5.10 meters.
•Â
Brianna Parsons (SO, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) came within two spots of qualifying for finals in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 12.96 seconds to finish in 11th place. Parsons also finished 19th in the 200-meter dash preliminaries as she finished in 27.41 seconds.

Mya Bishop (SO, St. Paul Minn./Highland HS) competed in a trio of sprinting events, finishing 22nd in the 400 meter with a time of 1:05.11, 24th in the 200 meter with a time of 28.2 seconds, and 25th in the 100 meter with a time of 13.69 seconds.Â
• As a team, the Auggies finished in 12th with three points.Â

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
•Â
Evan Bergemann (SR, Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) highlighted the first day of competition for the Auggies, earning All-MIAC honors in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.99 meters to land

in third place overall.
•
Varney Conneh (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had an outstanding afternoon in the sprinting events, qualifying for finals in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash and setting new personal records in both events. He finished in fourth place in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 10.91 seconds and landed in seventh place in the 200-meter dash preliminaries after clocking a time of 22.49 seconds.
• The Auggies also found success in the 1500 meter preliminaries with both
Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) and
Getinat Asfaw (SO, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) qualifying for finals tomorrow. Hussein clocked a time of 4:05.51 to finish in fifth place while Asfaw was just behind him with a time of 4:05.58 to claim 11th place.

Taron Busby (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy HS) was four places off of a qualifying mark in the 100-meter dash, finsihign 13th with a time of 11.29 seconds.

Brandon Doe (FY, Roseville, Minn./Irondale HS) also grabbed a 13th-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.85 seconds.
• The 4x800 meter relay team of Asfaw,
Bereket Wondimu (SO, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS),
Max Jacobson (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn./Zurich International School), and Hussien finished in seventh place with a time of 8:01.05.
• As a team, Augsburg finished 11th with 15 points.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Varney Conneh (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) brought home All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in the 100-meter dash finals, nabbing fifth place with a time of 11.00 seconds. He also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash finals after turning in a time of 22.74 seconds.Â

Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) and
Getinat Asfaw (SO, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) each earned top-ten finishes for Augsburg in the 1500 meter as Hussien claimed eighth place with a new personal-best time of 4:03.68 and Asfaw finished 10th with a time of 4:07.71.
• As a team, Augsburg finished 11th with 15 points.
