• Competing in her third NCAA national championship meet in the women's 400, Hookom qualified for the finals with a school-record 56.39-second effort in the preliminaries on Friday, breaking the old school record of 56.81 seconds, set in 1989 by five-time Augsburg national champion and eight-time All-American Carolyn Ross Isaak. She had qualified for nationals with the 16th-fastest time among the 20 national meet entrants with a 57.01-second time.
• In Saturday's national championship race, Hookom finished second in the second of two four-person heats, rallying from fourth place to second in the final 100 meters. She claimed her second straight school record, this time in 56.15 seconds, third-fastest of the eight finalists. Brynn Mooney of SUNY-Geneseo (N.Y.), who won the second heat, won the national title in 55.69 seconds, followed by McKensie Reser of Augustana (Ill.), who won the first heat in 55.82 seconds.
• It's Hookom's third straight time reaching the indoor national meet in the 400;
she finished in 18th place in 57.67 seconds in 2024 and in
20th place in 59.71 seconds in 2023.
• The 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titlist in the 400- and 600-meter dashes, Hookom has won four MIAC championships, and has earned All-MIAC (top three) finishes seven times, while earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention (places 4 to 6) finishes twice. She won both the 400- and 600-meter dashes at the 2024 MIAC Championships, earning
co-MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors.
• Hookom is the 36th NCAA Division III All-American in Augsburg women's track and field history, and the first since the 2014 season. Augsburg has had 64 national meet qualifiers in indoor and outdoor track and field, with 59 in NCAA Division III competition and five in NAIA competition.
