MINNEAPOLIS -- For the third time in the last four years, all four Augsburg University winter sports teams will be competing in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason playoffs this week, the most winter teams to qualify for conference playoffs in school history. So far this school year, six Augsburg fall and winter teams (volleyball, women's soccer, men's/women's basketball, men's/women's hockey) have qualified for the MIAC postseason playoffs.
For all MIAC postseason playoff games, tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for students (children ages 5 and under are free). There are no senior discounts. ALL Augsburg students, faculty, staff and alumni must pay admission. The only passes accepted for admission are MIAC-issued passes.
Augsburg's A-Club alumni organization will pay admission for the first 150 Augsburg students to attend the two home playoff games this week (men's basketball on Tuesday 2/25, women's basketball on Thursday 2/27). Students must show their Augsburg ID for entry to the playoff games. Both games are also designated "MAROON OUT" games, with fans encouraged to wear Augsburg maroon clothes to the game.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Augsburg (18-7 overall, 14-6 MIAC) is the
No. 3 seed in the six-team MIAC playoffs, and will host No. 6-seed St. Olaf (12-13 overall, 9-11Â MIAC) in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday (2/25) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall. The Auggies swept their regular-season meetings with the Oles,
winning 85-57 on Dec. 4 at Si Melby Hall, and
winning 75-74 on Jan. 22 in Northfield, Minn.
Should Augsburg win, it will face No. 2-seed St. Thomas (23-2 overall, 19-1 MIAC) in a playoff semifinal game on Thursday (2/27) at 7 p.m. at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul, Minn. The conference championship game will be on Saturday (2/29) at 7 p.m., at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner receiving the MIAC's automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
Augsburg is appearing in its fifth MIAC playoffs in a row and 17th since the conference playoffs began in the 1984-85 school year. It's the 10th time in the last 12 years that the Auggies have appeared in the conference playoffs.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Augsburg (21-4 overall, 17-3 MIAC) is the
No. 2 seed in the six-team MIAC playoffs. Augsburg will host a conference semifinal game on Thursday (2/27) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall, hosting the highest remaining seed of Tuesday's (2/25) quarterfinals -- either No. 3 St. Thomas (20-5 overall, 16-4Â MIAC), No. 4 Gustavus (17-8 overall, 13-7Â MIAC) or No. 5 Hamline (15-10 overall, 10-10Â MIAC).
The conference championship game will be on Saturday (2/29) at 7 p.m., at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner receiving the MIAC's automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Division III national tournament. Should top-seed Bethel (24-1 overall, 19-1Â MIAC) win its semifinal game, it would host the championship game; should the Royals lose, the Auggies would host the final if they win Thursday's semifinal. The championship game winner will receive the MIAC's automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
During the regular season, Augsburg swept St. Thomas (
69-65 in overtime on Nov. 11,
60-56 on Jan. 29), split with Gustavus (
75-64 loss on Jan. 19,
77-74 win on Feb. 22) and won its only meeting with Hamline (
78-66 on Feb. 12). Bethel swept Augsburg in the two meetings between the teams (
74-70 on Jan. 8,
71-55 on Feb. 19).
Augsburg is making its fourth-ever appearance in the MIAC women's basketball playoffs, all since the 2014-15 season. Augsburg's 21 overall wins (tied) and 17 MIAC wins are both single-season school records, and its second-place MIAC regular-season finish also ties its a school record set last year.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY
Augsburg (20-5-0 overall, 15-3-0Â MIAC) is the
No. 3 seed in the five-team MIAC playoffs, and will travel to face No. 2-seed Hamline (18-3-4 overall, 14-1-3Â MIAC) in a playoff semifinal game on Saturday (2/29) at 2 p.m. at the
TRIA Rink in St. Paul, Minn. (
400 Wabasha St. North). During the regular season,
Augsburg lost 6-0 to the Pipers on Nov. 15 and
topped Hamline 4-3 on Nov. 16.
Should the Auggies win Saturday, they would play in the conference championship game on Saturday, March 7 at the site of the highest remaining seed, either at top-seed Gustavus (20-3-2 overall, 15-1-2 MIAC), or hosting No. 4 St. Thomas (12-9-4 overall, 11-6-1 MIAC) or No. 5 Saint Mary's (9-13-3 overall, 6-10-2 MIAC). The winner of the conference championship game will receive the MIAC's automatic bid to the 10-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
During the regular season, the Auggies were swept by the Gusties (
4-2 on Nov. 22,
1-0 on Nov. 23), swept St. Thomas (
3-2 on Feb. 21,
3-1 on Feb. 22) and swept Saint Mary's (
3-2 on Jan. 31,
2-1 on Feb. 1).
Augsburg is appearing in its fifth MIAC playoffs in a row and ninth since the conference playoffs began in the 1999-2000 school year. The Auggies won the inaugural MIAC tournament and were runners-up in 2016-17.

Augsburg (14-10-1 overall, 9-6-1Â MIAC) is the
No. 3 seed in the five-team MIAC playoffs, and will travel to face No. 2-seed Concordia-Moorhead (13-10-2 overall, 10-5-1 MIAC) in a playoff semifinal game on Saturday (2/29) at 7 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center in Moorhead, Minn. During the regular season, Augsburg claimed
a 2-0 win on Feb. 14 and
lost 2-1 on Feb. 15.
Should the Auggies win Saturday, they would play in the conference championship game on Saturday, March 7 at the site of the highest remaining seed, either at top-seed Saint John's (12-8-5 overall, 9-3-4 MIAC), or hosting No. 4 St. Thomas (12-10-3 overall, 9-6-1 MIAC) or No. 5 Gustavus (11-11-3 overall, 7-7-2 MIAC). The winner of the conference championship game will receive the MIAC's automatic bid to the 12-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
During the regular season, Augsburg split with Saint John's (

Augsburg is appearing in its sixth MIAC playoffs in a row and 19th since the conference playoffs began in the 1986-87 school year. Augsburg has won the MIAC playoff title five times, including the last four seasons in a row -- the first "four-peat" in MIAC men's hockey playoff history.
