Henry Gerten, Class of 1998 … A key piece of two Augsburg teams that won national championships, Gerten is one of the most successful wrestlers in Augsburg history. Wrestling at 118 pounds, Gerten was a two-time individual national champion in 1997 and 1998, helping the Auggies to win team titles in the same seasons. A three-time All-American and MIAC Champion, Gerten finished his three seasons at Augsburg with an overall record of 104-7. He was inducted in the NWCA Division III Hall of Fame in 2016. An Elementary education major and American history minor at Augsburg, Gerten was named Augsburg’s honor athlete in 1998, and earned N-W-C-A Scholar All-American honors two times. After receiving his master’s degree in education, Gerten began working as a teacher at Rosemount Middle School while coaching wrestling at Farmington High School, earning Class AAA Minnesota Coach of the Year honors in 2015. Henry resides in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota with his wife, Theresa, and sons, Samuel and Lucas.
