Jake Kern, class of 2000 … A defensive back for the football team, Kern played a major role on the 1997 MIAC champion Augsburg football team. Kern totaled 221 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 17 pass breakups in his career, including a single-season school record seven-interception season in 1997. Kern earned All-MIAC honors three times and was named a Hewlett-Packard Division III second-team All-American in 1997. A physics major and computer science minor at Augsburg, Kern went on to earn a master’s degree in condensed matter physics from the University of Minnesota, and a Juris Doctor degree from Hamline University in 2005. Jake works as a co-managing partner at Brooks, Cameron, and Hipsh Law Firm, and lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota with his wife, Chrissy, and children, Frankie and Gus.
