Michael Erickson ’81 (Hockey) -- All-MIAC forward in 1978-79, All-MIAC Honorable Mention in 1979-80 and 1980-81 … Member of teams that won NAIA national titles in 1978 and 1981 and MIAC titles all four years … Finished career with 79 goals and 71 assists for 150 points in 101 career games … Currently stands 5th in school history in career goals and 9th in career points … Scored 12 goals with 19 assists for 31 points in 1977- 78 … 22 goals with 16 assists for 38 points in 1978-79, 24 goals and 19 assists for 43 points in 1979-80 and 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points in 1980-81 … 49 goals with 36 assists for 85 points in 54 MIAC games.
Michael Erickson, Class of 1981 … One of the top goal-scorers in the history of Augsburg men’s hockey, Erickson was a key piece of Augsburg teams that won two NAIA national championships. Erickson played in 101 career games and helped the Auggies win MIAC titles in all four of his seasons, scoring 79 goals and adding 71 assists for 150 points, the ninth-most points in school history. He earned All-MIAC honors in the 1978-79 season, and was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention twice. A physical education major, Michael went on to play hockey in the East Coast Hockey League, eventually transitioning to a role with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board following his playing days. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
