Hanson was a member of the basketball team, with brother Ron, that played in the 1962-63 NAIA national tournament in Kansas City. He was an All-MIAC football player as a halfback and set a record for punting for the Auggies. During his career he scored a 72-yard touchdown for the Auggies in 1961, rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns in a 1963 win over Hamline. Auggies’ offense was built around Hanson. He was a member of A-Club. Hanson died of leukemia on October 10, 1970.
